WASHINGTON (AP) — Ancient stone tools found in western Ukraine may be the oldest known evidence of early human presence in Europe, according to research published Wednesday in the journal Nature. Archaeologists used new methods to date the layers of sedimentary rock surrounding the tools to more than 1 million years old. The chipped stone tools were likely used for cutting meat and perhaps scraping animal hides, he said. The very earliest stone tools of this type were found in eastern Africa and date back to 2.8 million years ago, said Rick Potts, who directs the Smithsonian Institution's Human Origins Program. “The oldest humans with this old stone tool technology were able to colonize everywhere from warm Iberia (Spain) to Ukraine, where it's at least seasonally very cold – that’s an amazing level of adaptability,” said Potts.

Accesul la informațiile de mediu este o problemă stringentă pentru Moldova, declarațieFără informații despre starea mediului, este imposibil să fie luate măsuri pentru îmbunătățirea situației. Iată de ce este foarte important accesul la informațiile despre mediu – menționează directorul executiv al Asociației Internaționale a Păstrătorilor Râului Eco-TIRAS, doctorul în biologie Ilia Trombiţki. Într-o conferință de presă la IPN, Ilia Trombiţki, a amintit că Republica Moldova a ratificat, încă acum 20 de ani, Convenția Comisiei Economice pentru Europa a Națiunilor Unite, semnată în orașul danez Aarhus, în 1998. Astăzi avem o problemă în ceea ce ține de obținerea informației, a o păstra și a oferi. Eco-TIRAS a trimis un mesaj Comitetului de conformitate al Convenției de la Aarhus, cu privire la nerespectarea de către țară a dispozițiilor Convenției, privind accesul la informațiile de mediu.

Autoritățile anunță noi măsuri de lockdown în Danemarca din cauza creșterii numărului de cazuri de infectare cu Covid-19 în ultima perioadă. Potrivit premierului danez Mette Frederiksen, restricțiile suplimentare inclusiv închiderea restraurantelor, a barurilor, dar și suspendarea cursurilor în școli. ''Intrăm într-o nouă fază a epidemiei, o fază în care vedem o creştere exponenţială a infecţiei'', a declarat ministrul sănătăţii danez Magnus Heunicke într-o conferinţă de presă. Danemarca a înregistrat la ultima raportare de luni, 7 decembrie, 2.026 de noi cazuri de COVID-19 în ultimele 24 de ore, cu un total de 92.629 de infectări. Noutatea este dată de principalul vector de transmitere a noului coronavirus, reprezentat de tinerii cu vârste între 15 şi 25 de ani din 17 districte din zona capitalei Copenhaga, potrivit ministrului sănătăţii danez.
